Arsene Wenger gave his pre-match press conference ahead of the North London derby this weekend in the FA Cup.
Wenger gave an update on the fitness of key players ahead of the match against Spurs and it doesn’t make good reading if you’re an Arsenal fan.
Both of the clubs main strikers Nicklas Bendtner and Olivier Giroud have been ruled out of the game, with Giroud frustratingly ill having made progress on an ankle problem.
Arsenal’s record summer signing Mesut Ozil is due to have a fitness test today and could make the line-up for the game if all goes well.
Left-back Kieran Gibbs has also been ruled out for the match along with midfielder Aaraon Ramsey who has been the stand out player for the club so far this season.
Wenger also spoke on transfer rumours currently connected to the club including a proposed £2 million for Fulham forward Dimitar Berbatov, which is something he said the club haven’t considered.
“He is not a name we have considered at the moment. We have not contacted anybody,” said the Frenchman.
Debate also rolls on over the possible signing of Atletico Madrid forward Diego Costa although Wenger kept the focus of the press conference on the build up to the Tottenham game, pointing out Spurs’ positive result against Manchester United ahead of the tie.
“Tottenham made a good result at Manchester [United], their confidence will be up,” he added.
