Napoli, Atletico Madrid, FC Porto, FC Basel and Wolfsburg stars feature.
Chelsea have been linked with plenty of talented players over the past week as the side remains in a good position on all fronts with the January transfer window officially opening.
There are one or two areas of the current Chelsea side which could use a tweak and a little added depth such as the attack but manager Jose Mourinho has played down the chance of January being a big month for the club.
However, that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from working overtime. Here are the five top players linked with a Stamford Bridge switch this week.
1) Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli)
Sources today have suggested that the Blues have had a £50 million offer for the former Real Madrid man turned down.
He is the sort of marquee, big name signing who could come into the club and score the goals over the second half of the season which would power the Blues into good a good position as the hunt Premier League and Champions League titles.
Chelsea could axe Demba Ba to make the deal happen.
2) Diego Costa (Atletico Madrid)
There has been plenty of talk of an apparent approach from Chelsea’s London rivals for the £32 million rated Brazilian.
That has led to revitalised speculation that Chelsea will move to block Arsenal getting their hands on Costa before themselves. It’s best to wait and see how Chelsea react if they make their interest in Costa official.
3) Jackson Martinez (FC Porto)
FC Porto’s Jackson Martinez is regularly linked with moves away from Portugal and this week has been no different.
The 27-year-old forward has named Chelsea, along with Arsenal, as his two preferred destinations should he complete a move to the Premier League.
Martinez has revealed Chelsea were one of the sides he cheered for as a boy.
4) Fabian Schar (FC Basel)
The Guardian has reported that the Blues are considering Basel’s Fabian Schar as a defensive reinforcement to their current backline.
Napoli and Inter Milan are also thought to be interested in the Swiss international and there have been reports of interest from Arsenal in the Premier League.
Jose Mourinho is widely thought to be an admirer of Schar, one of Basel’s most consistent players over the last two seasons.
5) Ricardo Rodriguez (Wolfsburg)
Another defender Chelsea have been linked with is 21-year-old Wolfsburg star Ricardo Rodriguez.
Rodriguez can play on the left side of central defence but is more commonly used at left-back, with Mourinho thought to be keen on a long term replacement for Ashley Cole.
The Express has reported comments from his agent which suggest a deal could be difficult with the German side in no hurry to do a deal.
