Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Fulham, Chelsea and Benfica stars all feature.
Arsenal have been linked with several players in the last week as Christmas and New Year passed, with the January transfer window officially opening.
The priorities for Arsene Wenger if he’s looking to improve the squad this month will be the defence and the attack, with serious questions still hanging over the support to Olivier Giroud despite the return of Lukas Podolski.
Here are the top five players linked with the Gunners.
1) Diego Costa (Atletico Madrid)
This isn’t a new one with plenty of sources still flogging the line that Arsenal are interested in the £32 million rated forward.
Costa has been in fantastic form for the La Liga side this season as he’s scoring a Luis Suarez amount of goals; 19 strikes from 17 La Liga appearances so far this season. Atletico Madrid are joint top of La Liga with Barcelona.
2) Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund)
Reus’ future has once again been widely discussed this week, with the Gunners mentioned as a possible destination.
However, reports from Germany have carried quotes from the player where he’s suggested he’s happy at Borussia Dortmund although flattered by the interest he’s been getting from big sides.
Arsenal aren’t short of top quality midfielders either as Wenger has pointed out in the recent past.
3) Dimitar Berbatov (Fulham)
The Bulgarian striker who once cost Manchester United a £30 million transfer fee could be available for £2 million.
The striker himself has hinted through his Facebook page that he could be interested in a move to the Gunners, with his lethargic style of play the only stumbling block to a deal with Arsene Wenger always demand a big work ethic from all members of his side.
However, he is the cheapest and possibly best value for money striker Arsenal are linked with at the moment.
4) Demba Ba (Chelsea)
A cheaper and possibly easier to sign alternative to Costa is Chelsea striker Demba Ba, the man Arsenal tried to get on loan last summer.
The Daily Telegraph has suggested that Arsenal could make a move for Ba with the Blues wanting to get back the £7.5 million they paid Newcastle United, with the main issue whether Jose Mourinho will be more willing to do a deal with a Premier League title rival.
Ba has just a single goal in the league this season.
5) Nemanja Matic (Benfica)
Arsenal have joined a list which includes both Manchester clubs, Real Madrid and Matic’s former side Chelsea, in terms of the clubs reportedly interested in the Benfica star.
However, given Wenger’s recent comments about not needing another midfielder when asked about Newcastle’s Yohan Cabaye, this is an extremely difficult deal to see Arsenal going for. Even more so when the fee being mentioned in relation to him hit the €40 million bracket.
