Report: Inter and Man United for player swap

Javier Hernandez

According to Turin based newspaper La Stampa, Javier Hernandez and Mateo Kovacic could swap clubs in the winter window.

Inter and Manchester United are reportedly weighing up the possibility of swapping transfer targets Javier Hernandez and Mateo Kovacic.

Hernandez is widely tipped to leave Old Trafford having become something of a peripheral figure with Arsenal the favourites to secure his services.

But Serie A giants Inter have the ideal bait if they wish to lure the Mexican forward in the form of Kovacic.

United are known to be keeping a close eye on Croatian midfielder Kovacic, who is just 19 but seen as a massive talent for the future.

Kovacic's versatility is said to be a massive asset that has attracted the interest of David Moyes who is in need of reinforcements this winter.

There have been reports in Italy that Inter are ready to let Kovacic join the Red Devils but adding Hernandez to the deal rather than money would surely make it more attractive to Inter.

According to today's print edition of La Stampa, cited by Tuttomercatoweb, United are edging towards agreeing such a deal, which could be completed within the January window.

It isn't clear whether the deal would be a straight swap or if some kind of part-exchange deal would be brokered.

While Hernandez has much more experience and a proven track record at the highest level, Kovacic still has massive potential due to his youth.
