Emirates Inside

All the latest news and gossip from The Emirates Stadium over the past 24 hours.

Arsenal are not considering a move for Dimitar Berbatov this winter. The Fulham striker is said to be a target for Arsene Wenger - as a striker shortage hits The Emirates.

However, despite reports of a £2 million move being on the cards, no bargain deal seems to be on the horizon:

"Berbatov is a not a name we have considered at the moment."

Arsenal have an injury crisis ahead of the North London Derby in the FA Cup this weekend. Wenger has confirmed many a name is on the injury list ahead of the tie:

"We have lost Nicklas Bendtner, Giroud's ankle was quite positive but he is sick. Kieran Gibbs and Aaron Ramsey remain out.”

However there has been a boost as Mesut Ozil was snapped taking part in Arsenal training today. He suffered a shoulder injury earlier in the week and was expected to be out of action for a couple of weeks.

However he looks like he could make an earlier than expected return to action - however Wenger doesn’t think it likely he will return to action for the weekend:

“Ozil will have a test later; personally I think he will be short. Gibbs and Ramsey are definitely out.”

Arsenal legend Gilberto Silva has been training with the club. The 37-year-old is not expected to make a shock return to the club anytime soon - but is currently in the Brazilian off-season and is keeping himself fit ahead of the new campaign.

Damian Martinez has extended his loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday until the end of the season. His initial one-month loan deal was then extended until New Year’s Day.

However he has impressed during his spell and has now been told he is wanted until the end of the season.

With Lukasz Fabianski on the way out and Emiliano Viviano set to follow - Martinez could be number two next season.
