The best of this year's new colour

In The Pink

A hue for healthy-looking skin

2014 is the year of "radiant orchid". Every December, Pantone publishes the colour of the year, and this time they've picked "an enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones". For make-up, they promise it "enlivens the skin, making all who wear it feel more healthy and energetic". That's nice, isn't it! I've tried some combinations this week, and I'll be honest: tricky. But if you use it subtly (Lollitint £24.50, benefitcosmetics.co.uk), you sort of see what they're saying. And on nails it looks fashionably odd, like a sexy zombie. Radiant orchid. OK, sold.
