Cardiff City join Arsenal in the race to land Crystal Palace starlet

Cardiff City are reportedly in for Crystal Palace starlet Jonathan Williams, a reported long-term target of Arsenal.

According to Sky Sports Journalist Pete O'Rourke, Cardiff City are ready to attempt to land Crystal Palace starlet Jonathan Williams.

The Cardiff City merry-go-round continues, from Malky Mackay being told that there would be not a single penny to spend in January, to Ole Gunnar Solksjaer being told that there is a potential £25m windfall to go and spend. And Cardiff City's newest target is clearly one that would demand big money.

Johnathan Williams was tipped by many Palace fans to be the real gem of their incredibly successful academy, despite Wilfried Zaha leaving for Old Trafford for £15m in the summer. So any sort of advances from Cardiff City are likely to be laughed off unless a substantial bid was put forward.

The 20-year-old hasn't featured that much in Crystal Palace's first team this season, with just 8 sub appearances to his name. But that shouldn't undermine the potential of the player, nor the value of him to the club. Arsenal are reportedly long-term admirers of the young player and will no doubt watch this situation with great interest and I would assume they would be reluctant to let a player of his quality slip through their fingers.

Having been a part of the Welsh squad for the majority of 2013, he will be well known to Cardiff City supporters and the interest in the player will no doubt be looked on favourably.
