The January transfer window has officially opened for silly season but which potential signing would Tottenham fans most like to see at White Hart Lane in 2014?
TJ: “Advice for @SpursOfficial Stay Hungry: The Campaign for Chicharito.”
Sean: “Sell Defoe, sign Hernandez. Loan in Contreao or another LB. Maybe sign a centre back. Would be the perfect Spurs transfer window.”
The Mexican has been out of favour at Old Trafford since the arrival of David Moyes but its unlikely the champions will let him to go to a Premier League club and the player’s agent has ruled out an exit recently.
RichieRichhh: “Can Spurs sign Benteke pls.”
Alvin: “Get him!!! Even better than villa!”
Liquid Spurs: "Christian Benteke will cost £25m No thank you!!”
Similarly, I can’t see Villa letting the Belgian frontman go even though his form has dropped of late and his renewed deal in the summer means it would take a massive offer to even tempt Paul Lambert to consider selling the striker.
LYSCODCRAFT: “By the looks of things we want Lavezzi from PSG to replace Adebayor! Can't see it happening but would be amazing!”
This one is a potential deal in the making with the Argentine looking for a way out of PSG but Spurs will have to move fast as the 28-year-old forward is presently linked with a number of top clubs on the continent.
Lars V.97: “That would be awesome.”
This may well be an awesome signing but I don’t think it’s realistic given that Manchester City have both Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo out injured at present.
Alex Dawson: “This is the mirror, what ambition we have at the moment!”
Gary West: “Forget Shane Long, I'd rather Spurs sign Danny Ings. Quality striker.”
I tend to agree with Twitter responses to this rumour that Spurs should be aiming higher – Long is a fantastic poacher and a decent finisher but I don’t think he would represent an improvement on what Tottenham currently have.
