Some of the latest news and rumour surrounding Tottenham Hotspur this Thursday evening.
Newcastle and Besiktas are both reported to be interested in the England international as Spurs look to add cover for their injury hit defence.
However, reports in Manchester Evening News suggest that Tottenham would have to put in a substantial bid for the defender if they want to land him, with City boss Manuel Pellegrini keen to keep hold of the player until the end of the season.
Left-back Danny Rose has said Emmanuel Adebayor’s return to the side has helped Roberto Soldado, with Rose saying the Spanish striker had become frustrated at playing up front on his own under Andre Villas-Boas.
Rose is quoted in the Evening Standard saying: ‘It is just nice that he has got a bit of help up there with Adebayor. He didn’t play a game since pre-season until a few weeks ago but his energy levels have been brilliant.
‘He has been like a new signing. He has scored three or four goals in his last four goals and it is brilliant for us.’
There is still plenty of reaction to Spurs’ 2-1 at Old Trafford yesterday which means they are within two points of the Champions League places. Man of the match, Vlad Chiriches told the club’s website it felt great to both pick up the win and the plaudits.
He said: ‘We didn’t have a lot of the ball at the end but we won, and that’s fantastic.
‘The last 10 minutes they came at us so hard, we kept fighting and fighting. We showed good spirit and fought until the end.
‘We deserved this win. It helps our confidence. Everyone is happy.’
