Mata has been rotated with Oscar in the attacking midfield position at the club this season, but Mourinho has said he doesn’t want the player to leave.

“I want to keep him. I don’t want him to go. That is my opinion, my wish, but my door is open. The club’s door is open too so when a player wants to speak to us we are there waiting for them,” said the Portuguese boss.

Michael Essien’s agent has hinted that the experienced midfielder could leave Chelsea this winter.

Essien has struggled to gain regular football at Stamford Bridge and his agent has hinted that several top clubs are looking at him.

“It’s true that he could leave Chelsea this winter. Several big European clubs playing in the Champions League have made enquiries and it should play out in the next 10 days or so,” his agent told the Express.
