Chelsea fan warns Blues AGAINST hailing Traore as Januzaj's superior

Januzaj And United Celebrate

Chelsea supporters are excited over Traore's potential, but one fan says expectations must be reigned in after comparisons to Manchester United star.

With the dawn of a new year, came the opening of a new transfer window.

Albeit one that is shorter in length than the summer market, the mid-season free-for-all can still provide clubs - regardless of whether they are gunning for the Premier League title or looking to escape relegation - with one last, potentially vital, chance to bolster the squad.

Chelsea were one of the first to act, securing a deal with summer trialist Bertrand Traore, an 18-year-old midfield phenom from Burkina Faso, back in October, but the transfer could only be made official on January 1 - when the market reopened for trading.

Excited Blues fans instantly took to Twitter, with one supporter even labeling Traore, who joined the Stamford Bridge side from Association Jeunes Espoirs De Bobo-Dioulasso, to be so good that he is Adnan Januzaj's daddy.

HITC reader JD wisely asks his fellow Chelsea fans to calm their expectations of the teenager, who wowed crowds last year, saying: 'United wanted Freddy Adu when he was 13… now look at him. Don't use prior interest as a projection for success.'

He added: 'Don't use tour success as a projection for success during meaningful matches. [Wilfried] Zaha and [Jesse] Lingard were arguably United's best players during pre-season, one cant get a game and the other is now on loan at Birmingham.'

While the player himself has every reason not to be (already attracting superstar adulation, was a full international at just 15-years-old) he remains admirably grounded and was quoted by the BBC to have said yesterday that mixing with the senior Chelsea squad was a beneficial educational opportunity and that the move to West London was the realisation of a dream.
