£20m Manchester United La Liga target in 'last chance saloon' in Spain

Valencia's Ever Banega will have to turn things around to impress new coach Juan Pizzi.

Reported Manchester United target Ever Banega is in last chance saloon according to Spanish newspaper and website Marca.

The Valencia midfielder has been linked with several high profile moves away from the La Liga club and reports from Spain suggest it may not be too long before he is forced out of the exit door.

With Manchester United having just fallen to another Premier League defeat, David Moyes is arguably under more intense pressure to make one or two solid and experienced signings this month in an attempt to make the top four by the end of the season.

Juan Pizzi has only just been appointed as head coach of Valencia and Marca says Banega is staring at his last chance to save his Valencia career as the new boss examines his current squad.

“Ever Banega has more lives than a cat. Juan Antonio Pizzi's arrival to the Valencia dugout is going to give him yet another chance to prove himself. The importance of the Argentine in the team had waned considerably,” reads the start of the report.

Banega has started a high ratio of matches for Valencia in the league this season with 15 starts but his stats of one goal and three assists have led to criticism of his performances.

If David Moyes does harbour a desire to sign the £20 million rated midfielder then it’s simply a case of sit back and wait.

The 25-year-old Argentine has not expressed a desire to leave Valencia and it’s only natural that a new coach coming in will give all of his players the chance to prove themselves while he gets to know his team and his system.

The problem for United is that if they want to offer that £20 million to Valencia before the end of the month, they may be left with a situation similar to the last transfer window where they had to leave it very late to do their business.

Banega is a highly talented, technically perfect and efficient midfielder and if it really is ‘last chance saloon’ then Manchester United, or any other side interested, will be ready and waiting to pounce.
