Why Liverpool's best signing next season is already at Anfield

Despite talk of Mohamed Salah and Cristian Tello moving to Anfield, Oussama Assaidi might be Liverpool's most promising 'new' addition next season.

Liverpool fans value goals against Everton like no one else. They also happen to like players who score against Chelsea.

Could there perhaps be, say, a winger on the market who has done both this season?

Why, of course - and Liverpool have already signed him for next season.

Indeed, Stoke's Oussama Assaidi is in red-hot form at the moment, with three goals to his name in his last seven appearances (and two in three). The 25-year-old's most recent strike would have been the winning one against Everton on Wednesday, until a late Leighton Baines penalty salvaged a point for the visitors.

But three points or not, there is no denying that Assaidi is flourishing on loan at the Britannia Stadium. And that is something that can only benefit Liverpool in the long-term.

When the Moroccan first moved to Anfield, his pace was electrifying and his ability to beat a man even moreso. Still, Brendan Rodgers deemed him surplus to requirements for a place in the Reds' first team.

The decision to let him move to Stoke on loan, however, has allowed him to fine tune certain aspects of his game. As well as the raw dribbling ability now, Assaidi has added a venomous finish.

It makes perfect sense, then, for Liverpool to allow the 25-year-old to enjoy a full campaign of regular football and reap the rewards when he returns to Anfield next season.

Rodgers' side have been linked to Mohamed Salah and Cristian Tello in recent days but, in Assaidi, the Reds will have a new wide man who comes with no transfer fee or even signing-on fee.

Indeed, one of Anfield's most promising arrivals for next season is already a Liverpool player. It is simply down to Rodgers and the board to make sure he comes back.
