Renowned Arsenal supporter and social media commentator Piers Morgan grew frustrated at the Gunners side's wastefulness in front of goal for much of their match against Cardiff City on Wednesday, January 1 but with the end result, a 2-0 victory for the Emirates Stadium team, Morgan believes the N5 outfit showed championship-winning credentials with their never-give-up, battle-to-the-end mentality.
Shocking game, superb ending, 3pts, back on top, 4am in Sydney, goodnight. #Afc— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) January 1, 2014
Champions win horrible, scrappy games like this in the last few minutes. Huge goal from Bendtner. #Afc— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) January 1, 2014
Do you agree with Piers?
There were strong performances from front to back, with Per Mertesacker gifted a number of opportunities but saw his efforts perpetually nodded the wrong side of the post.
Nicklas Bendtner eventually broke the deadlock, with a predatory six-yard chance, before injuring himself and getting replaced by Thomas Vermaelen prior to Theo Walcott banking the three points with a beautiful lob.
