The Wales international is set to be on the sidelines for a couple of weeks, in what is now a blow for the Anfield club.
The former Swansea man suffered from injuries at the start of this season, and it appeared that most of the Kop were not overly concerned, as Allen would only be a fringe figure in the team anyway.
However, over the last month, since the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park Allen has featured in eight games for Liverpool.
Much of this will be down to Steven Gerrard’s injury, but Allen has proved himself as more than ready to be an important member of Brendan Rodgers’ squad.
Similar to the way in which Jordan Henderson had to win over the Liverpool supporters, Allen has had the same hardships and seemingly come out the other end a better player.
Now, with Allen set to be absent for a couple of weeks with injury, Liverpool fans will miss the midfielder that was once a source for disdain on Anfield.
