Which popular songs define Everton’s year ?

David Moyes

Everton have gone through a number of highs and lows in 2013 but which song would explain the last 12 months.

A Well Respected Man – The Kinks

Everton started off this year keeping on keeping with their well respected and, as it turned out, well regarded manager David Moyes in their pursuit of a top four finish.

Keep On Moving – 5ive

The Toffees kept moving under Moyes and it was business as usual but, alas, they couldn’t quite make the top four even though they finished above Merseyside rivals Liverpool in sixth place in the Premier League.

Jolene – Dolly Parton

As soon as Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson announced his retirement after 26 years in charge at Old Trafford, the whispers starting flying around and Everton fans may have felt much like Dolly Parton hoping the champions wouldn’t take their man.

Changes – David Bowie

However, when the news was announced that Moyes was the chosen one to replace Ferguson at Old Trafford, the changes brought with them positivity with former Wigan boss Roberto Martinez coming in to replace him with wholesale changes at the club in the backroom staff and squad personnel.

Talking About A Revolution – Tracy Chapman

Even though the Spaniard could not keep Marouane Fellaini from joining Moyes at United this summer, they kept hold of Leighton Baines and brought in some new additions of their own and, so far so good, the Blue revolution on Merseyside sees Everton keeping pace with the title challengers this term as we head into 2014.
