Which popular songs define Chelsea’s year ?

Jose Mourinho Chelsea

Chelsea have gone through a number of highs and lows in 2013, but which song would explain the last 12 months.

Booo! – Sticky featuring Ms Dynamite

Rafael Benitez was hired at the back end of 2012 to take over from fans favourite Roberto Di Matteo who had steered the Chelsea to win the Champions League and FA Cup double the previous season. For the next few months into 2013 the Stamford Bridge faithful booed Benitez and expressed their contempt for the sacking of Di Matteo by applauding in the 16th minute of every game in tribute to his squad number as a Chelsea player.

Leave (Get Out) – Jojo

It was clear from the offset the fans were unhappy with Benitez’ appointment and the situation didn’t much improve and by the spring it was clear the feeling was mutual and the ‘interim’ manager was effectively told to get out and leave Chelsea in May at the end of the season.

Back For Good – Take That

There was only one man Blues fans wanted – they wanted him back and they wanted him back for good and soon enough the Chelsea faithful got their heart’s desire…

Happy - Ashanti

The ‘Special One’ returned as Jose Mourinho declared himself the ‘happy one’, he was back where he belonged at the Bridge.

The Killing Moon – Echo and the Bunnymen

Chelsea have got off to a decent start this season, but, as the happy one has said on many occasions, they have failed to kill of their opponents. As we head into the new year, there can be little doubt it’s killing time from here on out.
