Arsenal have gone through a number of trials and tribulations in 2013, but which song would explain the last 12 months.
Trouble – Coldplay
In the beginning, things looked dark. It was a tough period from January until March as Arsenal crashed out of the domestic cups to lower league opposition and then lost the North London derby to Tottenham.
Close To Me – The Cure
Spurs were going neck and neck with the Gunners in the fight for the top four in the league leading former Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas to state Arsenal were in a ‘negative spiral’, this one looked as though it might go to the wire…and it did with Arsenal clinching the fourth spot from their arch-rivals on the final day of the season.
Money (That's What I Want) – The Flying Lizards
Then, with the season out of the way came the call for Arsene Wenger to spend spend spend as the club and the fans reached boiling point over the lack of star signings this summer. They tried to no avail to sign Gonzalo Higuain and Luis Suarez but with the summer transfer deadline approaching there seemed little hope.
Faith – George Michael
However, on deadline day Arsenal pulled off the record signing of Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid and the fans’ faith in the manager and the board was instantly restored.
Smooth Operator – Sade
And as for the new addition, he certainly is a smooth operator in midfield alongside his supporting cast in Aaron Ramsey whose own form has been something of a revelation for Arsenalthis term.
