Here's something sent in by a Tottenham fan.
'4-4-2 simply doesn't work at Tottenham. We went out in the summer and bought players used to playing 4-3-3 and then try to get them to play 4-2-3-1, and now 4-4-2 - it's simply crazy! So, what's our best team ?
Let's start with the Tottenham defence:
Lloris is fine but, needs protection from a defensive midfielder such as Sandro.
My first choice back four: Walker, Kaboul, Vertonghen, BAE
My midfield three would be: Sigurdsson, Sandro, Lennon
Upfront: Lamela, Soldado, Defoe
So what's the logic ?
Defoe and Lennon are a tried and Tottenham tested pairing, Soldado just needs crosses into the box and he will come good. Lamela needs the help of Sigurdsson. Sandro would allow us to attack down the flanks as he naturally fills in the gaps behind.
Ade - we all know Ade plays for Ade; at the moment he has a point to prove, but he's a maverick - Defoe is more reliable, so Ade should be on the Tottenham bench.
I would only play Townsend if Lennon was off form, or injured. Happy to use him as a second half impact player.
As for Eriksen, Paulinho, Capoue, Chadli - not really convinced. Not convinced Rose is better than BAE either.
Dembele and Holtby - fine alternatives to Sigurdsson.
Winter shopping wish list:
1. A right back as back up for Walker.
2. A back up left back too.
3. A BAE recall.
