Lewis Holtby has implored Tottenham fans to be patient with their new manager.
Tottenham have installed Tim Sherwood as their new manager after Andre Villas-Boas’ sacking, with many raising an eyebrow due to it being the former midfielder’s first managerial post.
Sherwood started his reign at White Hart Lane with a 3-2 win over Southampton, but the north London side were frustrated by a 1-1 draw against West Brom on Boxing Day.
With some people questioning the logic of Sherwood’s appointment, Lewis Holtby has urged doubters to give the new man time.
"The gaffer is new in and he is trying to put his thinking into the team and we have to stick behind that,” the Germany international said.
"We have to put 100 per cent dedication to that. I think he has a good opinion of football and his style of play is nice.
"He likes to play forward attacking football. We need to give him some time because it's not easy coming into a hectic phase of a club when you have a Christmas period.
"You don't have much time to train. All the credit to him - he has calmed things down. The things he has tried to bring to us, they are really working."
The former Schalke man also stated that despite poor home form of late, Spurs are trying their best to turn White Hart Lane into a fortress.
"All the fans come with expectations and you play at home and you don't win a game for a long time,” he said.
"I feel sorry for them. Maybe it's a jinx at the moment, I don't know. We are seeking a win at home, especially in the Premier League."
