Manchester United fans react on Twitter to Welbeck's performance against Norwich

Danny Welbeck

Danny Welbeck came off the bench to give United another three points against Norwich City, and the fans loved him for it.

Danny Welbeck is something of an acquired taste.  While some Manchester United fans praised his work ethic, others said - quite fairly - that forwards should score goals and Welbeck, well, didn't.

That was until this season, when he belatedly started doing on a regular basis what he once did in fleeting moments of brilliance.

There was never any doubting that Welbeck could score.  But scoring regularly...or even semi-regularly...was the problem.  So whatever David Moyes has done to get him firing, United fans will hope it continues.

Welbeck's introduction from the bench against Norwich City was the moment that changed the game. Just 12 minutes after replacing Ryan Giggs, the England forward benefited from a ricochet that hit both him and Javier Hernandez before falling kindly into his path.  From that point, there was only one outcome.

During his 45 minutes on the pitch, Welbeck had two shots (one of which was his goal), he had a pass-completion of 84% and he had two dribbles.  And quite simply, where before he was a go-to guy for keeping possession and following orders, he is now a realistic and regular goal-threat.

Following the match, we took to Twitter to see what the fans thought.  You can read a selection of tweets below:
