Wayne Rooney has been speaking positively about United's recent form, after scoring his 150th Premier League goal for Manchester United in the win over Hull.

The result was the Reds' fifth win in a row in all competitions and Rooney feels that they are quietly catching up with the chasing pack.

The striker told the press: "I think we had some poor results at the start of the season but we are starting to show some real quality.

"In the last few weeks we are having a go. We are working hard, we are fighting for each other and we are ready for the challenge."

Rooney and Co will have a chance to make it six on the bounce when they travel to Norwich next.

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettinho has said his star midfielder Adam Lallana, who has been linked to both United and Liverpool over the last few days, will be staying at the club beyond the upcoming transfer window.

“We can keep Adam," Pochettino told the Mirror"I think Adam and other players are going to stay with us. There is no pressure to sell them. Adam said he is happy at Southampton and Southampton have no plans to sell him."

Another player that may not be available for transfer is Cruziero forward Everton Ribeiro, after both the player and the chairman indicated the player would like to spend one more year at the club.

The young Brazilian told Globe Esporte: "There is a lot of speculation but for now I am just enjoying my vacations.

"I'll present myself at Cruzeiro on January 6 to have a good pre-season and another great year at Cruzeiro."
