Aaron Ramsey could miss the rest of the busy end of year period with a thigh problem picked up against West Ham United.
Arsenal have beaten West Ham at Upton Park. Carlton Cole put The Hammers in front and for a while it looked like the team were set for Boxing Day disappointment.
But Theo Walcott was the inspiration and Arsenal romped back to win 3-1. Walcott bagged two goals in quick succession to give The Gunners the lead. Lukas Podolski however was an inspired substitution and did wonders against the Hammers defence - even grabbing the third goal.
But as he returned from his injury break, one other star player left the scene - for what looks a sizeable chunk of time.
Aaron Ramsey, despite a recent dip in form, has been in incredible form for The Gunners this season.
Unfortunately they might be about to go a sizeable state of time without his services - after he picked up an injury on his 23rd birthday.
The Welshman, who has been the Arsenal team’s player of the month since May, has been full of fitness in recent months but he suffered a thigh strain in today’s game - and Arsene Wenger is unsure of when he will be back.
“He knew straight away but we have to see. It looks [serious]. It looks like a thigh strain. I don't know how serious the thigh strain is but the Christmas period certainly is over for him. It was his birthday today. I don't know how long. We will see tomorrow morning.”
Arsenal are back at the top of the table - but now know that they will be without the player for the festive period.
He seems to have been ruled out for the next two games - a tough away tie at Newcastle United on Sunday and at home to former club Cardiff City on New Year’s Day.
But the worry will be he is absent for Tottenham Hotspur’s visit to The Emirates.
Hopefully he will return as soon as possible - with a busy schedule still ahead of The Gunners.
