Another case to suggest Chelsea should replace Cech with Courtois

The Atletico Madrid loanee has been adjudged as a better player than the current Blues number one in The Guardian’s top 100 players of 2013.

The case for Thibaut Courtois to be Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper next season is mounting, with the giant Belgian stopper continually impressing in his third loan spell with Atletico Madrid.

Despite the presence of long-serving custodian Petr Cech in the west London outfit’s goal, many are campaign that the Czech Republic international’s time as the Blues’ first choice may be coming to an end.

With Jose Mourinho sure to have a decision on his hands in the summer, another reason to suggest that Courtois is a better all-round option than Cech has been revealed today.

The Guardian have unveiled the prestigious top 100 players of 2013 list, which has been decided upon based on performances over the last 12 months.

15 experts were asked their opinion, with both Cech and Courtois making the final 100.

Cech was named at number 65 in the list, but Courtois outdid his more experienced team-mate, being named in the number 47 berth.

Although this will not have a major impact on the decision Mourinho has to make, it is another small facet to the growing wave of opinion that Courtois’ time to return to Chelsea may well be this summer.
