Everton man 'waiting to hear from Roma'

Everton defender John Heitinga has admitted that he would be interested to hear from Roma, who are reportedly tracking him.

Roma have been linked with Everton's Dutch defender John Heitinga and the player appears to be open to a move.

The Giallorossi made a record-breaking start to the Serie A campaign with 10 consecutive wins.

But Rudi Garcia's honeymoon period seems to be drawing to a close as his team are now five points behind Juventus.

In a bid to revitalise their Scudetto bid, Roma are expected to add to their ranks with several names said to be on their shopping list.

The priority could be a defender to replace Nicolas Burdisso who looks likely to join Fiorentina.

Over the last few weeks the Italian press have suggested that Heitinga is a transfer target and that speculation seems to have pleased him.

"There's a lot of talk about Roma," Heitinga told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I think that over the next few weeks we will know something more concrete. I'm waiting too.

"I've played in Spain and in England and would like to experience Italy. Roma are one of the best teams in Italy and if the interest is genuine then we'll definitely talk about it."
