Chelsea fans react on Twitter to Fernando Torres performance

Chelsea failed to break Arsenal down at the Emirates, with Fernando Torres unable to make the most of his opportunity leading the line.

Time is fast running out for Chelsea's strikers to make an impact, before they risk the club bringing in a new frontman in January.

Chelsea were not outplayed by Arsenal at the Emirates and even had more shots on goal - but couldn't force the issue.

It's no secret Jose Mourinho is unhappy with his striking options, and is keen to scour the transfer market to push the club's title challenge onwards.

He will have seen little surely in the club's match last night to dissuade him from moving ahead with those plans.

Fernando Torres was selected up front but the result means the Spaniard has just one goal in his last seven starts.

"You have difficulties and problems and you have to be strong. My career is a bit like this, every player goes through the same," he said in an interview with SkySports ahead of the fixture.

Torres managed three shots on goal during the match, but only one landed on target, one of his team's four.

He did provide one key pass, completed 67 per cent of his passes, marginally higher than Olivier Giroud's 67 per cent.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of Torres' performance were the seven aerial duels he won, more than Arsenal centre-backs Per Mertesacker and Thomas Vermaelen combined, and gave away just one foul.

Clearly Torres is working hard, and you just feel if he were able to connect with a clear cut chance he could put it away, and Juan Mata and Oscar sitting on the bench won't have helped.

Torres is realistically the best of a not-so-great bunch in Demba Ba and the disappointing Samuel Eto'o, but it's apparent he is never going to recapture the form which saw Chelsea pay £50 million for him; and that is the striker Chelsea are aspiring to.

In light of his form and mixed performance we took a look at Twitter to see what Chelsea fans were saying about him...
