The former Manchester United man scored in Real Madrid’s 3-2 win at the Mestalla, but looked to be offside.
Real Madrid kept pace with La Liga frontrunners Barcelona and Atletico Madrid with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Valencia on Sunday night.
Los Che are struggling domestically but gave Carlo Ancelotti’s men a scare by equalising twice through goals from Pablo Piatti and Jeremy Mathieu.
Angel Di Maria had opened the scoring, while Jese Rodriguez came off the bench to net the winner in the 82nd minute.
Cristiano Ronaldo continued his goalscoring form by netting Madrid’s second on the 40 minute mark, but as can be seen here, the former Manchester United man looked offside.
The victory means that Madrid are five points adrift of both Barca and Atletico after 17 games.
Ronaldo’s strike was his 17th in La Liga for the campaign, but the Madrid attacker is still two goals behind Diego Costa in the scoring list.
