Manchester United transfer news: Costa tipped for Old Trafford; Ribeiro praises club

A select round-up of morning news relating to Manchester United

When Manchester United manager David Moyes was spotted watching Atletico Madrid recently, it was assumed he was there to keep tabs on reported midfield target Koke.

However, Spanish newspaper El Confidencial claims the Scot is just as keen on man-of-the-moment Diego Costa, and is running the rule over the striker before a potential future bid.

Moyes has already ruled out the arrival of any strikers in January, but he said nothing about the summer, when Atletico are far more likely to sell; after all, why would they part with their star man when they are still in the Champions League and riding high in La Liga?

The report states that England is Costa’s most likely destination, but while many assumed Arsenal and Liverpool were heading the queue, United are now being tipped to sneak in on the blindside.

And they could also be closing in on Brazilian playmaker Everton Ribeiro, which is nothing new in itself, but the player’s latest quotes are.

Speaking to Globoesporte, when asked if he would prefer a move to United over one to Real Madrid, the player said, “Yes. I would like (that) more. The structure they have there is one of the best in the world. I was impressed.”

Ribeiro is making no secret of his desire to move to United. Now he can only hope they are just as keen for him to arrive.
