News, views and rumours relating to Manchester United in the past 24 hours.

Manchester United won 3-1 over West Ham United at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Goals from Danny Welbeck, Adnan Januzaj and Ashley Young ensured the Red Devils took all three points.

Phil Jones believes United need to play at a ‘high tempo’ as they did on Saturday.

“We needed to play at a higher tempo," said Jones.

"We have done well to bounce back from those disappointments against Everton and Newcastle. We have shown on Saturday - and in the previous games - we are starting to find our feet again in the United way."

Meanwhile, summer signing Marouane Fellaini faces up to six weeks out following his wrist surgery.

Striker Robin van Persie is ‘recovering well’ from his thigh injury and making ‘good progress’ but will be unlikely to return for United’s Boxing Day trip to Hull City.

In transfer news, David Moyes has ‘ruled out’ a move for a new striker in January.

"I would not say we are in desperate need of an out-and-out centre-forward," said Moyes.

"We have got Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Chicharito (Hernandez), Danny Welbeck. Shinji can play in behind as well, we are covered.”

"It is easy for people to throw names up, but when they look at it more closely you might say it wasn't that good a suggestion," he added.

However, United target Angel Di Maria has rubbished claims he could exit Real Madrid in January.

Di Maria said: "I do not want to go. I want to win my place in the team. Not me, nor anyone in my camp, has asked for a new contract. What came out was lies.

"I have been through some difficult days. I am just thinking about Real Madrid and I am still working hard. I have to keep going and try to earn a place in the team."
