Arsenal v Chelsea: Team news and Injury update for both sides

All the latest injury news ahead of Arsenal v Chelsea at The Emirates.

Arsenal take on Chelsea in the Premier League tonight, and the Gunners could head into Christmas in first or fourth dependent on the result.

To add extra spice to the fixture, Arsene Wenger has never seen his side beat Jose Mourinho's - and will be determined to put that right.

Here is the latest you need to know on all the fitness issues ahead of the game for both sides.

Lukas Podolski - Arsene Wenger has confirmed Podolski is fit for selection after months out of action and has been talking up his big game qualities. Expect to see the German on the bench, and brought on if the Gunners are in need of a goal.

Laurent Koscielny - The Frenchman sustained a nasty looking knee injury against Manchester City, but has been making good progress and has been tipped to return against West Ham on Boxing Day. Arsene Wenger told the club's website he was 'out' for Chelsea, and then backtracked: "It's 80 or 90 per cent he is out." that means there is a slight chance Koscielny could feature or make the bench, and while he could be subject to a late fitness test, Wenger won't want to take risks with several games over the next fortnight.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - Still out injured until the New Year.

Yaya Sanogo - Suffering a back injury and not expected back until mid-January.

Jack Wilshere - Serves the first of a two game suspension for showing Manchester City fans the middle finger.

Cesar Azpilicueta - The Spanish full-back picked up a knock against Steaua Bucharest which saw him sit out against Crystal Palace last weekend, but Jose Mourinho has given every indication he will return. Azpilicueta scored against Arsenal when the two sides met in the Capital One Cup at the Emirates earlier this season.

Gary Cahill - Gary Cahill was rested against Crystal Palace with a slight injury but returned for the League Cup loss to Sunderland with no ill effects and is available for selection.

Ryan Bertrand - The Englishman hasn't played since the League Cup win over Arsenal after picking up an injury. Jose Mourinho stated last week he was due to return to training this week but it is too soon to expect him to feature in any shape or form.

Michael Essien - The veteran midfielder is suspended for the fixture.

Ashley Cole - Not injured, but has been ruled out of the starting line-up by Jose Mourinho after attending the Gunners Christmas party last week. Cole could still make the bench.
