'Romanian Van Persie' speaks about Manchester United link - 'It is a good thing'

Dorin Rotariu has been speaking about the links with Manchester United this weekend.

18-year-old winger-come-striker Dorin Rotariu has had something of a breakthrough year at Dinamo this season. The talent, who is dubbed ‘Van Persie’ amongst his team-mates, because of his viscous left-foot strike, has been finding the net regularly this term.

He has scored six goals for the club this season in 17 appearances and it appears his talents have not gone unnoticed in England.

His agent Ioan Becali has made it clear that top teams in the Premier League are enquiring about his prize talent.

He has stated to the Romanian press:

"Mourinho knows him, and Villa-Boas knows him, and David Moyes. He is the first on the list when Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United are looking for youth."

Big comments to make, and of course it is the agents job to say such things. The AVB link is believable to a degree - as Becali dealt with Spurs for the Vlad Chiriches sale but that is now unlikely considering AVB has moved on.

It is also easy to remember that Becali made some big claims about Arsenal wanting Marica in the summer - which never seemed to pick up speed.

But while you can remain sceptical, that is no need to completely rule out Rotariu as an option for the future.

Recently the story picked up momentum when The Sun reported he was being eyed up as a potential signing - the fact his nickname is ‘Van Persie’ will also whet the appetite of United fans.

And this weekend he was quizzed on the subject of United’s interest.

His response was interesting, as he certainly did not seem to be screaming for a move many would consider a dream come true:

"I find it a good thing that such a team asks about me, makes me work even harder in training and especially to play better. Hope to reach the national team, is a dream that I want to meet him because we have small, especially as the national team is that all the good players or as a catch. I hope one day to make this big step and I that I have proposed."

It seems right now, while flattered, he is keeping his feet on the ground and just hopes to play for his country one day.

But a move away seems some way off for now.
