Manchester United transfer news: Real's '£20m Rooney move'; defender set for Italy

A select round-up of transfer news relating to Manchester United

Wayne Rooney may look like he is enjoying his football again at Manchester United, but with another transfer window just around the corner – and speculation the bread and butter of the football world – the England man is again being linked with an Old Trafford exit.

But according to the Sun on Sunday it will not be in January, but next summer, when Real Madrid will be lurking with a £20million offer for a man suddenly in the final year of his contract.

The story claims Real president Florentino Perez is an admirer of Rooney and wants him to run down his current deal at United in order to get him on the cheap at the end of the current campaign.

In other news, Alex Buttner has been linked with a switch to Serie A, with both Genoa and Roma reportedly interested in signing the defender.

The Mirror reports that the Dutchman could leave in January. And with speculation continuing that David Moyes wants a new left-back – along with Patrice Evra’s outstanding form – it is a move that can be placed in the “likely” pile.

The Rooney story on the other hand, well, that seems a little more pie-in-the-sky.
