This season’s surprise package face last season’s surprise package later today, as Everton travel to the Liberty Stadium to play Swansea City.
A win for the Toffees will see them go just two points behind league leaders Liverpool, and with the halfway stage of the campaign approaching, that would be nothing short of remarkable. In short, Roberto Martinez is doing wonderful things at Goodison Park, but the same can be said of Michael Laudrup at the Swans.
However history does not give them much hope, with the Welsh side failing to win any of their previous 17 league or cup games against today’s visitors. And Martinez will be hoping to extend that record when he returns to the club he served with aplomb prior to his move to Wigan Athletic.
But another record may have to change for that to be the case, with the Spaniard without a win in four matches against the Swans.
That said, Everton have only lost one league match all season, and will be hoping that will still be the case come 6:00pm this evening.
What do you think today’s result will be?
