CONFIRMED: Southampton & Tottenham line-ups - Shaw out, Adebayor and Rose start

St Marys Southampton

Here is how Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur will line-up for this afternoon’s match:

Southampton starting XI: Gazzaniga, Chambers, Hooiveld, Lovren, Cork, Fox, Davis, Lallana, Schneiderlin, Rodriguez, Lambert

Subs: Cropper, Yoshida, Fonte, Ramirez, Ward-Prowse, Reed, Gallagher

Tottenham starting XI: Lloris, Walker, Chiriches, Dawson, Rose, Lamela, Dembele, Eriksen, Sigurdsson, Adebayor, Soldado

Subs: Friedel, Capoue, Fredericks, Bentaleb, Holtby, Chadli, Defoe

Just one place and three points separate Southampton and Tottenham in the Premier League, but the two sides are having very different seasons.

While the Saints are enjoying a renaissance under Mauricio Pochettino, Spurs are in a mild form of turmoil (if such a thing exists), having parted company with Andre Villas-Boas and seen results continue to suffer as a result.

Caretaker boss Tim Sherwood needs a win, and quickly, but a visit to St Mary’s is not the best place to get it.

Spurs are without Paulinho, who serves the second of a three-game ban, but Michael Dawson has completed a suspension of his own and is ready to return.

A win for Tottenham this afternoon will see them climb above Manchester United and sit just six points off top spot – something Villas-Boas could point to as reason enough to have been given more time. But Spurs do not have the best record at St Mary’s, winning last season but losing their previous five encounters without scoring a goal.

What do you think today’s result will be?
