The Argentina international’s brother has stated that the attacking midfielder will play at St Mary’s on Sunday.
Tottenham head to face Southampton on Sunday with Tim Sherwood in charge of his first Premier League fixture, following Andre Villas-Boas’ dismissal.
The former midfielder’s team selection will be an interesting one, as will his preferred choice of formation.
However, it appears that one man that will be given a rare start by the caretaker boss will be summer signing Erik Lamela.
The Argentina international became the north London side’s record transfer signing ahead of this season, but has largely been used as a substitute as he adapts to life in England. To date, he has featured in six league games, but only started twice.
However, when quizzed on Twitter, Brian Lamela has confirmed that the talented ex-Roma man will get the nod against the Saints.
Lamela has shown glimpses of what he is capable of with cameo performances in the Europa League, but seems like he is still adjusting to the more physical nature of the game in England.
Undoubtedly talented, Lamela can play anywhere across the forward line, and as such it remains to be seen just where Sherwood will use the South American today.
