Paul Georges Ntep looks more and more likely to become an Arsenal player in January.
French starlet Paul Georges-Ntep has made it clear recently that he is on his way from Auxerre in January.
The player has been heavily linked with Arsenal and player himself has acknowledged that interest in the French press:
“Arsenal is a club that appeals to any player. This is a club that relies on young people. After that it’s always the same question – it depends on the project. Arsenal, yes, but to do what? If this is a club that I am going to sit on the bench, then where is the progression? I’m not saying I want to go to a big club to start immediately but at least that can happen in the medium term.”
And if you wanted any confirmation that he was on his way from the club - he made it clear recently. On the 13th December Auxerre beat Niort 2-0 - with Ntep hitting the back of the net. It was Auxerre’s last game at their Stade de l’Abbe Deschamps of 2013 - with the next game at home not coming until the 9th January.
And after celebrating his goal he posted a picture on Instagram - and he left the message accompanying it as…
“Last match at the Abbe Dechamps.”
This seems like an obvious goodbye to his adoring fans.
But with the likes of Tottenham, Aston Villa, Saint-Etienne, Sevilla, Bordeaux and Marseille all also said to be keeping tabs on the player, and those are the ones we ‘know’ about, who is to say Arsenal are in pole position to reunite him with former team-mate Yaya Sanogo.
Well what if Wenger was to sing his praises? Would that be compelling evidence?
Because that is what he has done.
“Paul Georges Ntep has the potential to have a great future. Whether he will or not all depends on his mind."
In a court of law, that might just be enough circumstantial evidence to find Ntep guilty of a future at Arsenal.
