€25m summer Manchester United target bags first goal for new club ... and becomes a world champion

Thiago Alcantara scored the second of Bayern Munich's goals in a 2-0 win v Raja Casablanca in the FIFA Club World Cup final.

If you care, which you might not, Bayern Munich are now the FIFA Club World Champions. Well like we didn’t know that already.

However they have now been crowned it officially after defeating hosts Raja Casablanca in the final yesterday.

It was a comfortable victory for the German and European Champions - who showed Chelsea how to polish off the ‘crème-de-la-crème’ of world football to be named the best in the business.

One of the players who did the job was a man who certainly could have become a Manchester United player in the summer.

He was available at a cut-price €25 million this summer after a release clause in his contract was activated at the Nou Camp.

Unite were heavily linked with his signature - but in the end he decided to join his former boss Pep Guardiola at the Allianz Arena.

Well he scored his first competitive goal for the club yesterday, adding to Dante’s goal in a 2-0 victory.

He has suffered with a knee injury since his summer arrival - which might explain the long wait for his inaugural finish for the Bundesliga outfit.

Now he will surely hope more is to come back on the continent - so he can force a place in the Spain team for next year’s World Cup finals in his ancestral home of Brazil.
