Radamel Falcao returned to action for Monaco against Valenciennes on Friday night, but had a match to forget.

Monaco spurned the opportunity to move to the top of Ligue 1 on Friday night, with Claudio Raneiri’s men suffering a shock 2-1 home defeat to relegation threatened Valenciennes.

The Stade Louis II crowd welcomed back Radamel Falcao, with the Colombia international returning to the fold after missing four consecutive matches due to injury.

The ex-Atletico Madrid man was introduced from the bench in the 46th minute, and had a glorious opportunity to level things up with a penalty being awarded to Monaco with seven minutes remaining.

However, things did not quite go to plan for the superstar striker. Skip to 3.10 of this video to see the miss.

Chelsea have been linked with a big-money move for the Colombian in January, with Falcao thought to be unhappy in France. However, this lack of conviction from 12 yards shows that the South American may not be the answer Jose Mourinho is looking for.
