In his current form, the possibility of anyone beating Luis Suarez to a man-of-the-match award is practically impossible. And yet Jordan Henderson went the right way about it in Liverpool’s 3-1 victory over Cardiff City earlier today.
With two assists (for the Uruguayan’s brace), four key-passes, a 92% pass completion-rate, and one shot on target, the 23-year-old looked every inch the heir-apparent to Steven Gerrard.
With the Liverpool captain currently unavailable, Henderson’s performance has proved the Reds can not only do without him, but do considerably well without him.
It was not only in his offensive play that Henderson impressed. The England midfielder also ran his socks off for the team, occupying positions all over the pitch to ensure Cardiff had as little of the ball as possible.
His influence on the game is in part proved by the fact that the Bluebirds managed only 31% possession to Liverpool’s 69%.
After the match, we took to Twitter to see what the fans made of Henderson’s performance. And in short, the praise was glowing, some believing he had sealed his place in England’s World Cup squad with his performances this season, while one fan believes he is better than a certain German plying his trade at the Emirates Stadium.
