Arsenal transfer news: Belgian starlet swoop 'just rumours'; Suarez and Casillas going nowhere

All the latest transfer gossip from Arsenal, including Michy Batshuayi, Luis Suarez and Iker Casillas

Despite recent reports to the contrary Arsenal have yet to make an approach for Belgian starlet Michy Batshuayi.

The 20-year-old striking powerhouse has banged in 12 goals in 19 league games for Standard Liege this season and has also been linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund.

He recently admitted that playing for Arsenal or the Bundesliga outfit would be a ‘dream’ however, Standard club representative Katrien Meire has denied anything official from the Premier League for their star player:

"Interest of Italian clubs? Some intermediaries have asked. Nobody from the Gunners has talked to us - they are just rumours."

Batshuayi is valued at around £4.5 million.

His agent, Jose Medina, has also been speaking about the player’s future. When quizzed on whether a move to Anderlecht was on the cards, and whether a release clause was in his current deal, he responded:

"Oh, clause or no clause: that's not the point. Michy thinks at present only to football and is not concerned with a transfer himself.”

Any hope of signing Luis Suarez is dead - as the Liverpool striker signed a new deal at Anfield.

The Uruguayan was targeted by Arsenal in the summer - and as he seeked Champions League football, was keen on the switch.

However Liverpool did not budge and Suarez has now signed a new four-year-deal, which will see his wages rise to a club record £200k-a-week.

Suarez stated on the deal:

“I believe I can achieve the ambitions of winning trophies and playing at the very highest level with Liverpool. My aim is to help get us there as quickly as possible."

Iker Casillas has refuted rumours he is to leave Real Madrid for Arsenal or Manchester City in the upcoming transfer window. He told Spanish television:

"Presently I want to stay with Real Madrid and win the 'Décima' (10th European Cup). I belong to Real Madrid, it's where I have always been, and what I want is to stay and win more leagues."

Casillas is about to become a father for the first time in two weeks and says assurances over his place in the Spanish national team is not causing him worry enough to want a move.
