Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Villarreal and Racing Club stars all feature.
Manuel Pellegrini’s team seem to have finally hit a little bit of form, shaking off the blips which followed them around through the early part of the season.
The Chilean coach could well ask for some January reinforcements as he tries to win more than one piece of silverware by the summer. Here are the top five players linked with Manchester City transfers this week.
1) Gerard Pique (Barcelona)
This would be a fantastic signing for Manchester City and a real blow to their city rivals Manchester United.
The former United player has been linked with a switch to the Etihad with Manuel Pellegrini reportedly keen to add experience and quality into his back four.
Pique’s contract with Barcelona expires next summer and he is yet to discuss a renewal, which means Barcelona could be tempted by a big bid from City this winter.
2) Iker Casillas (Real Madrid)
Despite the fact Joe Hart is a very good goalkeeper, that hasn’t stopped stories suggesting City could go after the Real Madrid shot stopper.
Reports revealed that Casillas has already been offered to City but fresh stories today suggest he’s not looking to move away from the Bernabeu stadium any time soon, which will be music to the ears of Hart.
3) Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich)
Another goalkeeper City have been linked with is Bayern Munich and Germany number one Manuel Neuer.
A potential £40 million offer has been suggested in the online rumour mill but Bayern boss Pep Guardiola has reacted quickly, telling City they have no chance of getting the German.
4) Mateo Musacchio (Villarreal)
This one will have come out of left field for a lot of Manchester City fans, with their side apparently interested in the 23-year-old defender.
Musacchio has played every single minute of league football for the La Liga team this season and is also being tracked by Chelsea and Spanish champions Barcelona according to reports.
He has featured in a side which has kept five clean sheets so far this season in league football.
5) Bruno Zuculini (Racing Club)
TalkSport has run a report which states that City have held off competition from a lot of big sides for the talented Argentinian 20-year-old.
The youngster has been tracked by the likes of Manchester United, Juventus and Barcelona and is reportedly seen as the long term replacement for Gareth Barry by Manuel Pellegrini.
He’s a midfield man, who likes to sit just in front of the defence or further forward in a central role, controlling the pace and tempo of the midfield play.
