Liverpool fans react on Twitter to new Luis Suarez deal - What's the buy-out clause?

Luis Suarez has signed a new long-term contract to stay with Liverpool

Liverpool fans will be delighted at the news Luis Suarez has signed a new ‘long term’ deal with the club.

News broke earlier this week that the club had started negotiations with the player over a new and improved contract, as they looked to tie him down to the club for the foreseeable future.

He’s been in simply blistering form, establishing an amazing strike rate of 17 goals in 11 Premier League games this season made more remarkable by the fact he missed the start of the season through suspension.

Liverpool are likely to have made several concessions in order to get Suarez to sign the new deal, such as dropping their socialist wage structure slightly to make him the highest paid player in the club’s history.

Credit has to go to the officials who have been working on this deal behind the scenes because the issue hasn’t been dragged out and any contentious areas have clearly been discussed in private, away from the public eye.

Cynics of the news will point to the fact that there is still a lot of pressure on Liverpool to finish in the top four, an issue which nearly saw the club lose their star striker last summer when Arsenal started making bids for the Uruguayan.

However, after being welcomed back by the clubs, something Suarez himself has commented on, there is every chance that this is a clear sign the striker won’t be pushing to leave Liverpool even if Brendan Rodgers’ side don’t make it into the top four by the end of the season.

He’s looked happy leading the Liverpool attack this season and he’s in arguably the best form of his life, aided by the fact Liverpool are playing fewer games than their rivals.

Here’s what Liverpool fans have made of the news on Twitter.
