News, views and rumours relating to Manchester United in the past 24 hours.

Manchester United take on West Ham at Old Trafford this Saturday.

In team news, Wayne Rooney has a ‘chance’ to be fit for the clash with the Hammers if he continues his recovery from a groin strain. However, Robin van Persie remains out with a thigh injury.

However, United have confirmed Nani has suffered a hamstring injury and will be out for ‘a few weeks’.

"[It] is a little bit worse than we thought," said manager David Moyes.

The predicted line-up for the clash with the Hammers is:

De Gea – Evans – Smalling – Rafael – Evra – Jones – Cleverley – Valencia – Januzaj – Kagawa - Welbeck

England striker Danny Welbeck has denied David Moyes’ claims he needs extra training.

"I have been doing that ever since I have been at United. Obviously I have been injured this season so maybe the manager has not seen me on the training pitch as much. Maybe, I haven't seen what he has said,” responded Welbeck.

“Obviously, at Manchester United, I want to be working hard and I have been doing that ever since I was a young kid. I just want to keep on getting better and improving. Those extra hours on the training pitch, whether it be with the boys or individually, I am just looking to improve.”

Welbeck was responding to Moyes comments earlier this week:

"I've got to say we had a word with him about a month ago and we said that he needs to be the last off the training field. Wayne's out there practising his finishing each day, whether it's taking free-kicks, shooting from tight angles or bending them in, whatever it may be Wayne's practising. I said: 'Danny, you need to be out there every day finishing, even if it's 15 minutes at the end.'"

Meanwhile, United striker Javier Hernandez’ agent has stated his client will remain at Old Trafford and, despite rumours to the contrary, the Mexican nicknamed Chicharito will be going nowhere in January.

"I had a meeting with Manchester United's people about 10 days ago and they confirmed that there has been interest from various European clubs but it is not in their plan to transfer him," Eduardo Hernandez told Medio Tiempo.

In transfer news, the Mirror reports United are ‘chasing’ Fabian Schar along with Arsenal who hope to sign the Basel defender in January.
