Roma are expected to try and strengthen their squad this January in a bid to keep their Scudetto hopes alive and John Heitinga seems to be on their shopping list.
The Giallorossi may be shedding Argentine defender Nicolas Burdisso next month and Heitinga would be an able replacement.
Former Inter man Burdisso has publicly stated that he needs more regular first-team football as he is hoping to make Argentina's squad for next summer's World Cup.
Burdisso may well quit the capital club, leaving a lack of strength in depth in defence, which could be addressed by securing the services of Heitinga.
According to Rome newspaper Il Messaggero, the Lupi are keeping a close eye on the 30-year-old, who has 87 caps for Holland.
Heitinga's contract at Everton expires in the summer and the paper insists that the stopper was offered to Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini a couple of months ago.
Fiorentina have also been regularly linked with Heitinga and could challenge Roma, but the Viola are in less obvious need of him at present.
