The FA commissioned poem to commemorate its 150th year, with a variety of past and present players
To celebrate 150 years of wonderful football memories, the FA has commissioned a poem to celebrate all that is good, bad and ugly from throughout its history.
Written by poet and author Musa Okwonga, the piece, titled "This is football", stars legends such as Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen, and Arsene Wenger, alongside celebrities with a love of the game like Ant and Dec, Dizzee Rascal, Amanda Holden, and John Bishop. Each individual take turns reading out a line appropriate to them, evoking memories of bygone years.
Okwonga told The Daily Mail: 'Football is a passion for almost every person in this country and The FA’s 150th year presents the perfect opportunity to honour this great game that we all love.
'The ode showcases how diverse the game has become since 1863. From the grassroots level to the professional game, from video games to the huge media spotlight, from mums washing kit to jumpers for goalposts."
