A select round-up of morning news relating to Manchester United

Manchester United and Manchester City may face each other in the League Cup final after the two clubs were kept apart in the semi-final draw last night.

United will play Sunderland while City will face West Ham United in the two-legged ties.

Considering how well the Blues have been performing at the Etihad, David Moyes will no doubt be pleased that if the champions do make it past the Black Cats, they will be facing Manuel Pellegrini’s men on neutral ground.

United made it through after a 2-0 win over Stoke City yesterday, with impressive strikes from Ashley Young and Patrice Evra ensuring back-to-back away wins for Moyes’ men.

In transfer news, Wilfried Zaha is reportedly in a 10-club transfer tussle, with Newcastle United said to be leading the race for his loan services comes January.

The Telegraph reports that the Magpies are his most likely destination despite Moyes saying he is yet to receive a call regarding the player…from anyone.

And finally, Michael Owen says United signed the wrong Everton man last summer.

In an interview with the Express, the former England striker said Moyes should have signed Ross Barkley rather than the hugely disappointing Marouane Fellaini.

As if it would have been that easy to prise one of the country’s brightest prospects away from the Toffees…
