Edin Dzeko last night sent out a message that he can still be a key player in this season's title race. Amidst speculation that the two London league contenders are interested in his signature, it's not quite certain who he will be a key player for.
Manchester City continued to show their dominance in English football last night thanks to a brace from the Bosnian front-man and a stunning trademark free-kick from Aleksandar Kolarov.
Leicester City were plucky in their performance, but didn't have an answer for the strength of the Manchester side. The Premier League club were superior in all-most every single way, creating 11 more shots on goal and making around 150 more passes with a better pass success rate than their East Midland opposition.
Despite there being some very good performances from the Manchester City stars, Edin Dzeko managed to stand-out above the rest.
The player showed an emphatic attacking threat through-out the game, and managed to get 6 shots off on goal, with 4 hitting the target and 2 cracking the back of the net.
He also created the same amount of goal-scoring chances as Spanish play-maker David Silva and had the largest aerial threat on the pitch, winning 5 of his aerial duals.
It was a complete strikers performance, but with Negredo and Aguero in their current form and currently higher in the pecking order, it could have been more of a 'come and get me' plea to London clubs Arsenal and Chelsea.
It was the players 9th goal of the season and having been second fiddle for most of the season, is an outstanding record. Although, Arsenal and Spurs fans may like to see the Bosnian coming to their club, but it's hard to see City letting him go.
He has proven at all levels that given a run of games and a platform to play, he will score goals.
