Transfer Talk: Featuring Ranocchia, Barkley and Zaha

Transfer news from Manchester United, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Fulham and Newcastle United.

AC Milan star Christian Zapata has insisted he is not thinking about a winter move to Manchester United. Zapata has been suggested as a long term replacement for Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand at Old Trafford.

“No, I do not know anything. I just think about Milan. I have a contract until 2016 and I want to stay here,” said the 27-year-old.

Chelsea are looking to pip Arsenal and Manchester United to the signing of Inter Milan’s Andrea Ranocchia.

Ranocchia hasn’t been a regular at the San Siro so far this season and reports are suggesting that Inter Milan will look to cash in on the Italian international once the winter transfer window opens.

A good story to keep one eye on over the next few days relates to Everton star Ross Barkley.

Sky Bet are taking bets on a possible winter transfer for the young midfielder with Manchester United installed as the current early favourites.

Liverpool are in the transfer news today, with some sources suggesting Brendan Rodgers will make a move for Chelsea’s Ryan Bertrand. However, the rumours are difficult to understand considering the impact and improvement of current left-back Jon Flanagan.

A current member of the Liverpool first team squad in the news is Daniel Agger, with Rafa Benitez looking to sign the defender on loan for Napoli.

Agger has been unable to force his way back into Brendan Rodgers’ first team on a consistent basis after recovering from an injury he picked up in the gym earlier this season.

Fulham have emerged as the fresh favourites to sign Ashley Young from Manchester United.

Reports yesterday suggested that his former club Aston Villa were leading the race to re-sign him, but the story seems to have developed with the West London club holding an advantage in the form of current manager Rene Muelensteen.

Another Manchester United man in the news is young winger Wilfried Zaha.

Newcastle United are reportedly leading the race to land Zaha on a loan deal over the second half of the season. Zaha has failed to force his way into David Moyes’ first team plans this season.
