Liverpool should pull out all the stops for Bayern Munich wonderkid

Bayern Allianz Arena

Bayern Munich midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri should be on the Christmas wishlist at Liverpool, we take a look at the reasons why.

Liverpool have put themselves into a great position going into January, and now need to be looking for possible recruits that can take the club that one step further and who knows what could happen come May.

I am not deluded and I understand that Liverpool don't have the spending power of their Premier League rivals and it's unlikely they will be throwing £30+ million on a player in the winter window.

But, I believe that Xherdan Shaqiri is one player that I think could be signed for a reasonable price, with a good re-sale value and could give them a huge push towards their goals next season.

The Swiss winger has made 33 appearances in the past 2 years for Bayern, with only 16 of them coming from the start.

Despite that, he has 6 Bundesliga goals and 5 assists that equates to a very good average, especially for a player not playing regularly and finding it difficult for a long-run of games in the side.

The 22-year-old is renowned for his speed, size and direct play. Standing at just 5ft 6in, the player is certainly not the biggest in stature but is still built well physically.

Touted as the 'magic dwarf' by some Switzerland fans, he has left supporters to be left in awe of his stunning foot speed and general all-round play.

Although his quick feet and dangerous attacking play is known as his 'forte'. He is also known as a free-kick specialist, and could end up challenging Luis Suarez for the mantel of Liverpool's free-kick taker, but I'm sure would more than make up for it in assists for the Uruguayan striker.

Watch the player in action below;

The player has established himself as Switzerland's crown jewel and played a huge part in their unbeaten qualification, putting them top of their group for the World Cup finals in Brazil in the summer, and this is where his value could raise potentially putting Liverpool out of the chase.

I think January is the best time for the reds to strike for their man, and they should pull out all the stops to get him in a Liverpool shirt for the rest of the season. He really could be key to their ambitions, for this year and longer.
