Edwin Van der Sar believes David Moyes can turn things around and be a success at Manchester United
David Moyes hasn't had the smoothest of starts as Manchester United manager. After losing two consecutive home games to Everton and Newcastle United, he was under pressure to deliver a home win over Shakthar Donetsk. He duly did so and has now followed it up with an away win over Aston Villa.
There is always going to be pressure at Manchester United as they have very expectant supporters. Some cannot simply stand the sight of their team sitting in mid table of the Premier League. However a former favourite has said that Moyes will be a success if he is given time.
Edwin Van der Sar was part of a hugely successful era at Old Trafford. Speaking at the Champions League draw he said he believes Moyes will get things right and will guide United up the table in time. "I think it will take some changes and take a while maybe." He also felt that the Champions League draw had been kind to them and it is a great opportunity for Moyes' boys to progress.
The former Dutch goalkeeper spent six years at Old Trafford under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson and believes it would take any manager a fair amount of time to adapt things. "(Alex) Ferguson has been there for 26 years and you're not going to change that straightaway".
United fans should listen to Van der Sar's words, as they are wise ones. Moyes should be given time, he was an obvious choice to replace Sir Alex and they must remember Ferguson himself was allowed sufficient time before he started to build his dynasty.
